Directing and composition class
using Action Theater™ improvisation skills to create and edit set work.

This class will benefit all performers and writers: actors, dancers, musicians, playwrights and directors.

Content will be improvised on the spot based upon participants needs and with simple structures and Action Theater fundamentals: shift, transform and develop. Copying, bulking and shadowing will be detailed.

Performance choices strengthened: how and when to enter, how to generate the most impact spatially; where to stop moving, when to change body level; whether to reduce, expand or maintain action.

Partner work will be used to analyze performance energy. Moments when one or both performers credit or discredit active material will be clarified.

Productive note taking will be offered, as well as text editing and performance use.

Performances will be recreated and repeated based upon analytical and kinesthetic memory.

Half the time will be spent creating material; half watching others perform.

Participants are expected to know Action Theater™ fundamentals and be experienced performers.
