The Eyes Have It

This Action –Theater™ based improvisation workshop specifically examines how the use of the eyes in performance dramatically affects the moods and feeling states of each performer. With investigations around the orientation of the eyes, where they are looking from — the middle, top, sides or corners — and the relationship to facial direction, you will discover new and fresh aspects inside your improvisations. You will work with using the eyes as a limb and how the “touch” of vision actually affects your somatic sensation. You will practice seeing and being seen in order to better establish a balance between inner and outer awareness.

Some of the topics included:
• direct, indirect and parallel eye contact
• separating the eyes from the nose
• internal and external focus
• exposing the thinking process
• connecting eyes with the breath
• vision following, complimenting and/or countering action
• the myth of vulnerability
